IIMA and IIMC interveiw experience

I interviewed for IIMA and IIMC during last two days. Traveled to both the campuses for the interviews. Meeting fellow applicants and current students was worth the price I paid for flight and hotel. It was an awesome experience: the campus, students, profs and fellow applicants, everything and everyone was fantastic. I am sure that people who will make the final cut will be really lucky. Here's a copy of my interview updates on pagalguy.com:

IIMC-PGPEX:
My IIMC interview went quite well. I interviewed at the IIMC campus itself . It lasted only 15 mins or so. There were three profs in the interview room, one old and two young ones. Strangely, I wasn't asked any difficult quant question. Just a couple of questions related to my work and whether I would need a family accomodation or not. Most of the discussion revolved around ethical dilemaa of human drug testing. I did screw up on a question related to one of my hobbies but they did not grill me much on that. There were around 8 people in the morning slot and around same number of people in the afternoon slot. I don't think they could interview 50 people in one day. With three profs and 20-30 minutes per interview, I don't think they could manage more than 20-25 people per day. All the best to fellow applicants. I met 2 people from PG yesterday at IIMC and at least 5 people in Ahmedabad day before yesterday.

IIMA-PGPX:
I was interviewed on 20th September inside the hallowed walls of IIMA. I was lucky to be in panel 1 and wasn't grilled on anything. The interview lasted for slightly more than 20 mintues. There were three profs in the panel. When entered the room, one of the profs asked me to segregate my academic certificates and work-experience certificates. He went through my certs quickly and asked me to summarize everything about my education and work in one minute. It went fine. Even though I had prepared the business-case presentation, they didn't ask me to present it, instead they gave me an extempore topic and asked me to speak for 3 mins. I blabbered for a minute and then stopped. Told them, that's all I could think of. The discussion mostly revolved around my work and then about my career goals. I don't think the profs went through my essays before the interview, unlike the IIMC panel. Around 50-60 people interviewed on the 20th and it was great meeting everyone- amazing group of people I must say. You should see the new IIMA campus. It's 5 star. They charged me 3k for a night's stay!!! All the interviews got over by 6 pm and there was a hi-tea discussion in the evening where the profs answered our questions regarding PGPX. Apparently, IIMA is promoting PGPX big time and they are planning to participate in FT MBA ranking next year.

Hi Road Runner,

Thanks for the compliment bro. After a series of dings I've finally managed to get a call from IIMC (Indian Institute of Management Calcutta) and I'll be joining the same. How's your training going on. I'm sure your 12km target isn't far away.

Take care
N.
